 N-Zed
Sydney DJ N-Zed, Nathan Zukerman, has become one of
the city’s premiere underground DJ’s with
a resume of gigs as diverse as the music he plays.
Collecting records has always been a passion for N-Zed
- a passion that soon became a full time job when
he started work at Sydney’s leading underground
dance store Reachin Records in ’96. That same
year saw him play his first gig at the now-legendary
Deep End at the Globe.
In ’97, he was named runner-up in Sydney’s
dance magazine 3D World’s Up and Coming DJ Of
The Year’ awards and the following year was
nominated for Best New DJ at the Australian Dance
Music Awards. N-Zed’s passion lies in tech and
electro but his collection is a broad range of electronica
from deep house, tech house, beats & breaks, downbeat
to experimental grooves.
His unique mixing style and technical skill has led
to support gigs with some of the world’s biggest
names in dance music:
Jeff Mills, Dave Clarke, Richie Hawtin, Green Velvet,
Luke Slater, Ben Sims, Random Factor / Carl Finlow,
Carl Craig, Claude Young, HMC, 16B, Mark Ambrose,
Swayzak, Vitalic, 2 Many DJs, Carl Cox, DMX Krew,
Adam Beyer, Chris Duckenfield (Swag)
2002 saw Nathan move to sunny Melbourne for just under
two years where he held a residency on friday nights
at The Croft Institute, as-well as playing sets at
some of Melbourne’s most respected and revered
parties Revolver, Honky Tonks, Flirt, Teriyaki Anarki
Saki and Misty. He also co-hosted a radio show every
tuesday afternoon on street fm for the duration of
his stay. Prior
to that and since being back in Sydney N-Zed has
held residencies at some of Sydney’s finest
clubs including Chinese Laundry, Mars Lounge and
the Globe and has played club nights Tweekin, Strudel,
Tecknikal, Bang Gang, Good Vibrations, Sweet Chilli,
Swarm, Suite, Junglepunks, Deep As Fuck, Brouhaha,
Boobytrap and Transmission to name a few.Promotions
wise, he has helped run successful techno nights
Kaplunk and Crunch and for the last 5 years has
put on B.E.E.F (best ever electro funk), one of
Sydney’s most respected parties. In 2005 B.E.E.F
played host to Dan Bell (aka DEX/ Detroit), Mathew
Johnson (minus, wagon repair / Vancouver) Daniel
Wang (environ / NYC), Random Factor (2020 vision/
UK), Thomas Brinkman (Germany), Bangkok Impact (crème
/ Finland) & DJ TLR (owner of crème)
He has also had his own radio shows in Sydney on
Bondi FM and FBI and has guested on 2SER, Radio
Dex, Rhythm FM and Triple J.
N-Zed has now stepped into music production and
currently works full time at Sydney's premier dance
music store Spank! Record’s.
